and then there were three...
After tackling the Amy Butler Sweet Greetings Large Portfolio, I still had fabric left over and thought I would try my hand at the small portfolio for a dual Moleskine carrier. The lovely soprano gifted me with a super cool London Moleskine, which I have big plans for, and although it has a diary section in it, I know with the combination of my handwriting and long windedness, that I'll need another Moleskine just for my journal writing. This of course calls for a two pocket carrier and the SG Small Portfolio would do just fine.
Now, I wasn't that wild about the large portfolio pattern, but I figured that that experience was going to make this one much easier, as I already knew what to look out for. With some forethought, I measured the pocket patterns first, making sure they were big enough for my two books (as I didn't want to run into the problem I had with the A4 paper on the large one.)
Once I was sure the pattern would suit my needs, I just went ahead and followed the instructions. The small pattern instructions actually went together exactly how I decided on my own to put the large pattern together. The only alterations I made were adding a pen pocket (following the directions from the larger portfolio), and using the red fabric for both the outside and the inside pockets, keeping the flowered fabric for trim only. I think it works aesthetically better this way, with these two particular patterns.
After I was done, I went back to the passport holder I made awhile back. I changed the trim on the outside to the red polka dot, so that everything was all matchy matchy. Well almost...
If I hadn't had such a frustrating time with that large one, I might have gone back and changed the ribbon trim on the outside of that one too. Who knows, maybe I still just might do so?
However for the time being, I am pleased enough.
