Now, I Just Have to Get the Courage to Wear it:

Something wonderful happened this year and my Shawn bought two sheets worth. The Post Office issued a set of classic DC Comic stamps.

There is some wording on them that implies that this is the first set and that makes me so excited. I really hope that they put out a few different sets with artwork from over the years. Perhaps it just means that Shawn bought the first issuing. Oh well, if anyone knows, feel free to Goggle slap me.

My first intention was to send them out on Christmas cards, that way I could make use of them before the postage inevitably goes up next year. I wouldn’t want to add a 2cent stamp and take away from the grandeur of Elastic Man. I had used a few on a couple of special letters I had sent out, but then that hording beast within me took over.

All of a sudden I didn’t want to waste them on Christmas cards. After all, the envelopes would only be thrown away…

Left over from Christmas crafting I had these tiny tablets. They’re thin wooden, ovaled rectangles and came in a pack of four. Of course, I only needed two for my Christmas craft, as is always the way. They had been shuffled around my desk for two weeks now, always in the way and bothering me by serving no purpose.

Last night I was inspired to use one and turn it into a stamp necklace. I wasn’t sure I would like the end result, so I used Supergirl (lame) and the Flash (hey, should that “the” be capitalized?). I knew that if I didn’t like the necklace, I wouldn’t be too put out that I wasted those two stamps.

This is another one of those projects that takes about ten minutes tops.

1) Place the stamp on the wood
2) Cut away the excess stamp
3) Flip and repeat on the other side
4) Superglue a jump ring to the top
5) Run a chain through the jump ring or use a bit of ribbon

You could use any stamps in place of these priceless ones, or I’m sure you could glue any image you fancied on too. The nice part is how fast and cheap it is! The pack of wooden disks was $1, a bag of 100 jump rings were $3, and a stamp is running 39cents right now.

They remind me of those wooden puzzle blocks I had as a kid. The kind where there was a different image on every side and fit together to make a couple different puzzles. Hmm, I'm not sure I'm exactly clear about that.

So, the question is: Would this look adorably cheeky with my cashmere sweater or just a little sad?
